Business continuity · Shopify checkout

Don't wait for a checkout outage to learn your backup plan doesn't work.

If one payment provider is your single point of failure, plan what happens to future orders before trouble starts. Learn the difference between payment recovery, a secondary provider and a separate Shopify checkout you can prepare and test.

$0 setup or monthly Voss fee0.5% Voss software fee per processed order

Whop processing fees are separate. Payment eligibility and payouts are controlled by Whop.

01Keep your Shopify store

Products, cart and fulfillment stay on Shopify.

02Accept payments with Whop

Your connected, eligible Whop business processes the payment.

03Orders return to Shopify

Confirmed paid orders sync for the normal fulfillment workflow.

CONTINUITY IS A PROCESS, NOT A MAGIC SWITCH

What happens if your primary checkout stops processing new orders?

Your products and ads may still be live, but a stopped checkout can leave the store unable to accept new payments. A realistic continuity plan covers provider eligibility, payment methods, storefront routing, order reconciliation, customer communication, support and a tested rollback.

Important: Voss does not automatically detect provider failures and fail over payments between Whop and Shopify Payments. It's an external checkout you can separately configure, test and activate when appropriate—not a guaranteed instant backup.

Three ways to approach Shopify payment continuity

ApproachWhat it doesKey limitation
Shopify-supported provider configurationChoose among providers available to your actual Shopify store and country.Available combinations, fees, supported products and recovery behavior depend on Shopify and the providers.
Eligible native card payment recoveryShopify documents payment recovery for eligible cards when Shopify Payments and a direct third-party provider are configured together.Only available in supported configurations. It's not a general guarantee for wallets, local methods or accounts under review.
Separately prepared Voss Checkout + WhopMaintain a Shopify storefront and use an external checkout connected to your own Whop business for future eligible orders.Requires separate setup and verification. No automatic failover, guaranteed eligibility or recovery of held funds.

Shopify reference: its documentation on combined providers and eligible payment recovery. This does not mean all Shopify stores have that configuration or that Voss provides the same native feature.

Build a contingency plan that can survive a real incident

01 · ACCOUNT

Confirm the second provider will actually support you.

Before launch, understand the second account's legal entity, products, operating country, disputes, settlement rules and merchant reviews. A processor that won't approve the business is not a viable backup.

02 · STOREFRONT

Document exactly how checkout routing changes.

Know which theme code is active, how to verify the Voss store connection and what steps are required to safely revert. Do not depend on an untested snippet from a different store.

03 · MONEY & ORDERS

Reconcile the old and new transactions separately.

Do not ask a customer to repay just because Shopify order creation is delayed. Check provider payment status and your Shopify order record first; Voss includes verified-order and recovery safeguards.

04 · CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE

Test what real buyers see.

Verify supported countries, checkout language, payment methods, mobile browsers, shipping, taxes, refunds and ad events before sending any customer traffic.

A QUICK, HONEST FIT CHECK

Could a separately prepared Voss checkout fit your Shopify plan?

Three answers, no email or form submission. We won't label an account approved based on a quiz.

1. What platform runs your store?
2. What do you need?
3. Can Whop support your business?

Choose an answer to each question for your recommendation.

Eligibility, payment methods, onboarding approval and payout timing always depend on Whop and its financial partners.

How to prepare Voss without assuming failover

  1. Keep an active Shopify storefront. Choose a Whop business that has independently met the actual product and location requirements.
  2. Connect Shopify and Whop in Voss. Configure checkout branding, store-specific installation and optional custom checkout domain.
  3. Validate a small actual purchase before any contingency rollout, including final totals, the Whop payment and a single paid Shopify order.
  4. Verify order refunds and your tracking integration before considering the new flow ready.
  5. Write down the manual switch and rollback steps, who performs them and how to check for duplicate/unfinished orders.
  6. Review everything after theme changes, product-market expansions or provider policy updates.

What Voss can—and cannot—do during a payment disruption

POTENTIAL FIT

A separately eligible way to accept future orders

If your Shopify store remains operational and Whop independently supports the business, Voss can route future checkout through your Whop account, with verified paid-order sync back to Shopify.

NOT WHAT IT DOES

Automatic failover or unlocking old funds

Voss doesn't automatically retry failed Shopify Payments charges through Whop; it cannot reverse provider suspensions, transfer held money or promise fixed payout timing.

Questions before relying on a backup Shopify checkout

Can I leave Voss ready and automatically switch if payments go down?

No automatic switch or standby failover feature is advertised. You must configure, verify and manage any routing change intentionally.

Is a backup payment account guaranteed to remain available?

No. Whop and other providers independently review eligible products and businesses, risks and payment performance.

Can Voss restore Shopify Payments or Stripe?

No. Only the original provider can resolve its own restrictions. A new checkout is a separate decision for future purchases.

Should I test with a sandbox card only?

Sandbox testing is useful, but a controlled actual transaction helps validate the production order path. Avoid sending live ad traffic before final checks.

How much does the Voss option cost?

Voss has $0 setup and monthly software fees and charges 0.5% per processed order. Whop processing costs apply separately. See transparent Voss pricing →

FOR ELIGIBLE SHOPIFY STORES

Build a tested Shopify checkout plan, not an unverified fallback.

Keep your products and fulfillment in Shopify. Voss connects your storefront to a separate branded checkout where your own Whop business processes payment.

Voss cannot release funds held by another provider or guarantee Whop approval or payout timing.
