Shopify third-party transaction fees: what you may pay on top of processing fees
A third-party transaction fee is a Shopify charge. It is separate from the payment-processing fee charged by the provider that actually processes the customer's payment.

Processor fee
Charged by the payment processor for handling the payment.
Shopify transaction fee
Charged by Shopify in qualifying third-party payment scenarios, with the rate depending on the Shopify plan and setup.
How Shopify calculates the fee
Shopify documents the formula as the applicable rate multiplied by the order amount used for the calculation, including product cost after discounts plus tax and shipping. The exact rate depends on the Shopify plan.
Important exceptions
Shopify's current documentation says third-party transaction fees do not apply to certain transactions, including POS orders and manual payment methods. When Shopify Payments is being used, Shopify also lists specific exclusions such as PayPal Express and manual payments. Exact treatment depends on the store setup and plan.
What happens when you switch away from Shopify Payments?
Shopify says stores using a third-party processor can pay both Shopify's transaction fee and the processor's own payment-processing fee. That means you should calculate total checkout cost, not compare only the processor rate.
Do the math on your real order value.
A checkout that looks cheaper on processor pricing can still cost more overall once Shopify fees, processing fees and checkout software fees are combined.
Where Voss pricing sits
Voss currently charges a 0.5% software fee per processed order, with no Voss setup fee and no monthly Voss fee. Whop processing fees are separate, and merchants should also verify any Shopify fees that apply to their own configuration.
