Stripe restriction recovery · Shopify
Stripe restricted your account. Here's your next move.
Before changing checkout, find out whether Stripe blocked new charges, paused payouts or closed the account. Then choose an eligible route for future Shopify orders—without putting existing customer obligations at risk.
Whop processing fees are separate. Payment eligibility and payouts are controlled by Whop.
Products, cart and fulfillment stay on Shopify.
Your connected, eligible Whop business processes the payment.
Confirmed paid orders sync for the normal fulfillment workflow.
Not every Stripe restriction means your store has stopped taking orders.
A payout pause, payment-processing restriction and full account closure are different situations. Stripe can ask for business verification or review eligibility. Read your dashboard notice and email rather than assuming the worst—or changing processors before you understand the issue.
What to do in the next 15 minutes
Read the exact account notice.
Open Stripe from a trusted browser session. Check whether the notice concerns payouts, processing ability, missing identity documents, restricted products or closure. Save the notice and any deadlines.
Respond through Stripe's official process.
If Stripe asks for documents, provide truthful, matching business information. If you believe it misunderstood your business, follow the review form in Stripe's notice.
Protect existing customers and funds.
Keep fulfilling existing orders, handling refunds and chargebacks, and tracking any funds currently held. A new processor will not release an old provider's balance.
Evaluate a separate route for new orders.
If your Shopify storefront remains usable, compare approved providers or an external checkout like Voss with a legitimately eligible Whop account.
Stripe publishes its account-closure and review instructions. The options available depend on your account and location.
Paused payouts vs blocked payments vs closed account
Is your issue specifically a paused transfer rather than an account closure? Read the Stripe payout pause checklist →
| What you see | What it may mean | Priority action |
|---|---|---|
| Payouts paused | Bank transfers may be restricted even when payment collection still works. | Check verification requirements, reserve terms and the expected resolution process. |
| Payments blocked | New charges may no longer be accepted through that Stripe setup. | Confirm the exact restriction, fix outstanding requirements and only then plan an eligible alternate route. |
| Account closed | Stripe says it cannot continue supporting the account. | Read the email, use the linked review process if appropriate and reconcile past orders and balances. |
Voss cannot reverse Stripe's decision, release Stripe-held money, or guarantee Whop approval. If a product or business activity is not supported by Whop, Voss is not a workaround.
Want to keep the Shopify store running for future orders?
There are two questions: who will process the next payment? And what checkout experience will the customer see? Start with an eligible payment provider. Only then decide whether the standard Shopify checkout or a separate checkout is the better operational fit.
Another Shopify-supported provider
Keep the current checkout experience, subject to the provider and country available to your actual Shopify store.
Your own Whop account + Voss
Keep Shopify for products and fulfillment, move buyers through a branded external checkout, and send confirmed paid orders back to Shopify.
Voss software costs $0 setup, $0 monthly and 0.5% per successfully processed order; Whop processing fees are separate. This path requires Whop approval, supported countries and a tested checkout flow.
Is Voss worth considering for your store?
No email required. Answer two questions to see the sensible next step, not an automated payment approval.
Choose one answer to each question to see your next step.
What happens after a customer pays through Voss?
- Your shopper starts in the existing Shopify storefront and cart.
- Voss presents a branded checkout connected to your Whop business.
- The successful payment is verified, and the paid order is recorded in Shopify for fulfillment.
- Use a test transaction to check shipping, tax, discounts, tracking and the complete order lifecycle before switching paid traffic.

Questions to settle before choosing a new processor
Can I get my Stripe money out by connecting Whop?
No. New transactions through an eligible Whop account are separate from the Stripe balance. Only the original provider can resolve or release its own held funds under its terms.
If Stripe shut me down, will Whop approve me?
There is no automatic approval. Business type, location, identity verification and risk profile all matter. Don't hide your business activity or misrepresent why another processor restricted you.
Do I need to move my products off Shopify?
Not for Voss, provided your Shopify storefront is active. The products and usual order fulfillment stay in Shopify; it's the customer-facing checkout that changes.
Should I immediately send ads to the new checkout?
No. Test the complete payment-to-Shopify-order journey first, including customer messaging and analytics. Run a controlled rollout and have a rollback plan.

Keep your products and fulfillment in Shopify. Voss connects your storefront to a separate branded checkout where your own Whop business processes payment.
Voss cannot release funds held by another provider or guarantee Whop approval or payout timing.
