Voss Checkout vs Shopify Payments: two different ways to run the payment step
Shopify Payments keeps checkout and payment processing inside Shopify. Voss keeps the Shopify storefront and fulfillment workflow but moves checkout to a branded external page that charges through the merchant's connected Whop account.

Quick answer
Use Shopify Payments when it already fits your business and you want the simplest native setup. Consider Voss when you specifically want a separate Shopify checkout/payment architecture connected to your own Whop account while keeping products, inventory and fulfillment in Shopify.
Side-by-side
| Area | Voss Checkout | Shopify Payments |
|---|---|---|
| Checkout | Branded external checkout | Native Shopify Checkout |
| Payment account | Merchant's connected Whop account | Shopify Payments account |
| Products & inventory | Stay in Shopify | Stay in Shopify |
| Paid orders | Written back to Shopify after successful payment | Created natively in Shopify |
| Tracking | Meta Pixel/CAPI and TikTok supported | Depends on your Shopify setup and apps |
| Software pricing | 0.5% per processed order; no Voss setup or monthly fee | Shopify plan and Shopify Payments pricing apply |
When Shopify Payments is the better fit
If Shopify Payments supports your business, payout setup and countries, and you do not need a separate checkout architecture, staying native usually means fewer moving parts.
When Voss may be the better fit
Voss is designed for stores that intentionally want the checkout and payment step separated from Shopify while keeping Shopify as the storefront and operational backend. The buyer pays through the merchant's own Whop account and the successful order is written back into Shopify.
Important before switching
Compare total fees, eligibility, payout timing, reserves, disputes, taxes, shipping, refunds and Shopify terms for your exact setup. Moving checkout does not guarantee approval or immunity from platform reviews.
Keep the store you built. Add the checkout you want.
Connect Shopify and Whop, test the full flow, then choose when you want to send live traffic through it.
