Can you build a custom Shopify checkout without Shopify Plus?
You can customize branding and some checkout experiences on Basic Shopify and higher, but Shopify still reserves deeper customization of the information, shipping and payment pages for Plus. An external checkout is a different architecture again.

What you can customize without Plus

What still requires Shopify Plus
Shopify's current documentation says apps that customize the information, shipping and payment pages of the native checkout are available only to Shopify Plus stores. Advanced checkout customization and the Checkout Branding API are also Plus-only.
External checkout is not the same thing as customizing native Shopify checkout
Two different paths
Native checkout customization changes Shopify's own checkout. An external checkout sends the buyer to a separate checkout layer while Shopify remains the storefront, product catalog and fulfillment system.

Can I fully customize Shopify checkout without Plus?

Can I replace Shopify checkout with my own checkout?
