Delayed payouts

Why are Shopify payouts delayed? Start by separating normal settlement time from an account hold.

A payout can be late because of weekends, bank processing, payout schedule changes, incomplete setup, negative balances or an account review. Those are different problems and need different fixes.

Normal reasons a payout arrives later

  • Country-specific settlement time.
  • Weekend or public-holiday timing.
  • Your chosen payout schedule.
  • Bank processing after Shopify sends the payout.
  • Incomplete payout setup or bank details.
  • Negative balances caused by refunds or disputes.

When it may be a hold or review

Shopify says reviews can be triggered by issues such as disputes, compliance checks, complaints, high-risk orders, fraud investigations, fulfillment problems or missing verification documents.

Will changing checkout fix a delayed payout?

Not for money already in Shopify Payments.

A new payment route can only affect future eligible transactions. Existing held or delayed funds remain subject to the current provider's process.
