The common failure: product price and payable amount are not the same
A shopper may see a low product subtotal before their delivery address and shipping choice are known. Taxes, shipping, discounts and presentment currency can change the final amount. A checkout should not submit a payment against a stale or incomplete quote.
A product costing less than the provider's minimum is not necessarily a below-minimum final order. The shipping-inclusive amount needs to be calculated and checked before deciding whether a payment session can be prepared.
Four things to compare
| Check | What should agree |
|---|---|
| Shopify market | Buyer's delivery country, intended market and displayed presentment currency. |
| Line items | Variants, quantities, product discounts and current prices. |
| Shipping and taxes | Address, available shipping rate, eligible discount and applicable tax treatment. |
| Final payment amount | Customer-visible total, Whop payment amount/currency and paid Shopify order details. |
Diagnose a cross-border mismatch
- Reproduce one cart. Note the product/variant, quantity and original display currency in Shopify.
- Check Shopify Markets. Confirm the market includes the delivery country and uses the intended currency and pricing rules.
- Enter the actual shipping address. Select an available shipping method and wait for the final updated total.
- Apply discounts once. Confirm the discount still qualifies for the changed delivery country or total.
- Compare the payment step. The charged amount and currency must match the verified final checkout quote; never continue after an unexplained mismatch.
- Verify the resulting paid order. Make sure Shopify order amounts and currency accounting correctly reflect what the customer paid.
Why a regional payment method might also disappear
Changing shopper country, checkout currency or shipping configuration may also change which provider payment methods are eligible. A missing local method is not always a site bug. Test the final buyer context and confirm support with the payment provider rather than promising that every market will have the same options.
How Voss handles Shopify and Whop currencies
Voss validates product, discount, shipping and final payment totals server-side, including supported scenarios where the buyer's currency differs from the store's bookkeeping currency. Shopify still owns the product and market configuration. Whop owns payment-method eligibility and settlement terms.
When an amount changes after entering an address, the checkout should clearly update the displayed price before payment. If you encounter an unexplained mismatch, do not authorize that payment; send Voss support a checkout reference and the involved market/currency, not full card details.
