Voss Checkout
Whop + Shopify

Can you use Whop as a payment gateway on Shopify?

Yes, but the important distinction is how it is connected. Whop is not simply selected as a normal native provider inside Shopify. With Voss Checkout, the Shopify store keeps running as the storefront while the buyer pays on a separate branded checkout connected to the merchant's own Whop account.

The short answer

Shopify stays the store. Whop handles the payment through the external checkout.

Voss Checkout connects the two: it reads the Shopify cart, verifies the amount, sends the buyer through the branded checkout, processes payment through the Whop account you connected, and then writes the paid order back to Shopify.

Why this is different from a normal Shopify payment gateway

Shopify supports direct and external payment providers inside its own payment-provider system. Voss is a separate checkout layer rather than a button that simply adds Whop to Shopify's payment-provider list.

That distinction matters because the buyer checkout, payment record and payout workflow are not the same as a normal Shopify Payments transaction.

What stays in Shopify

  • Storefront and theme.
  • Products, variants and inventory.
  • Store configuration used to calculate the order.
  • Paid-order record after a successful Voss payment.
  • Normal fulfillment and customer-operations workflow.

What happens during checkout

  1. The customer shops on the Shopify storefront.
  2. The cart is sent to the Voss checkout.
  3. Voss verifies products, quantities, prices, shipping, discounts and the final total on the server.
  4. The buyer pays through the merchant's connected Whop account.
  5. After successful payment, the matching paid order is created in Shopify.

Fees to check before switching

Voss currently charges 0.5% per processed order with no Voss setup fee and no monthly Voss fee. Payments run through your own Whop account at your Whop rate. Shopify documents that third-party transaction fees can apply in some third-party payment setups, so merchants should confirm what applies to their own plan and configuration.

FAQ

Can I select Whop inside Shopify's payment-provider settings?

Not as a normal native Shopify payment provider. Voss uses a separate checkout flow: the buyer leaves the Shopify cart, pays through the merchant's connected Whop account, and the successful paid order is written back to Shopify.

Does Shopify still handle the storefront and products?

Yes. With Voss, Shopify can remain the system for the storefront, products, variants, inventory and normal fulfillment workflow.

Do Shopify fees disappear?

Do not assume that. Shopify documents third-party transaction fees for some payment setups, so merchants should verify the fees that apply to their own plan and configuration before going live.

How can I use Whop on my Shopify store?

For a Voss setup, you connect your own Whop account to Voss, connect the Shopify store, and send the buyer through the external Voss checkout. Successful paid orders are then written back to Shopify.

Can Whop replace Shopify Payments?

Whop is not a native Shopify Payments replacement inside Shopify's provider settings. A separate checkout can instead process future eligible payments through the merchant's Whop account while Shopify remains the storefront and order system.

Can I connect Whop checkout directly to Shopify?

Not as a normal Shopify payment-provider option. You need an integration or external checkout architecture that connects the Shopify cart and order workflow to Whop.
